Does the thought of looking down make your stomach drop?

Master your fear of heights and falling

A personalised hypnotherapy programme to help you feel safe, calm, and in control however high you climb

Take control of your fear of heights or falling

You're standing at a viewpoint everyone else is enjoying. They're leaning over the edge, taking photos, marveling at the view.

But you? You're frozen several steps back. Your legs feel unsteady. Your heart is racing. There's a pull in your stomach that makes you want to grab onto something solid. You know, logically, that you're safe. But your body doesn't seem to care about logic.

Maybe you've turned down hill walks with friends. Avoided scenic routes on holiday. Stayed back while others went ahead to see the view. Perhaps you've felt embarrassed explaining why you can't go near balconies, or why ladders make you panic, or why the thought of a clifftop path fills you with dread.

Fear of heights is surprisingly common, affecting around 1 in 4 people in the UK to some degree, with approximately 6% experiencing significant acrophobia that genuinely limits their lives.

This fear is real, it's understandable, and with a little help, you can master it.

How is your fear of heights or falling holding you back?

You deserve to feel steady, grounded and in control.

Hypnotherapy for fear of heights and falling

This is a personalised solution-focused hypnotherapy service designed to help you feel calm, grounded, and confident high up.

It's not about forcing yourself to "face your fear" or white-knuckling your way through exposure. It's about teaching your nervous system a new way to respond, that’s gentle, safe, and at your own pace.

Most people find that around six sessions are helpful, though the exact number depends on you, your goals, and how quickly you feel comfortable progressing. Your plan will evolve with your own journey, reflecting the course of real life and the pace of personal growth.

Our goal is to help you feel safe, calm and in control whatever the height or drop. Because you deserve to enjoy the view.

How solutions focused hypnotherapy helps

Hypnotherapy works by guiding you into a deeply relaxed, focused state - a bit like when you're absorbed in a good book or driving a familiar route on autopilot. In this state, your conscious, analytical mind quietens, and we can work directly with your subconscious.

Together, we gently retrain your nervous system's response to heights. We help your mind and body understand that being elevated doesn't equal danger. That you can look down and feel steady. That you can trust yourself.

This process involves:

Understanding your fear

We'll explore what height means to you. Is it about feeling trapped? Loss of control? A past experience? Fear of falling? A sensation of vertigo? Everyone's fear is different, and your programme will be tailored to your specific triggers and goals.

Rewriting the response

Using guided relaxation, visualisation and solution-focused techniques, we'll work with your subconscious to create new, calmer associations with heights. Your brain will begin to learn that elevated spaces can feel safe.

Building somatic stability

I'll teach you grounding techniques, breathing practices and ways to settle your body when anxiety rises. These are practical tools you can use in real situations, perhaps on a balcony, on a hill path, near a window or anywhere you need to feel steady.

Mental rehearsal

In the safety of hypnosis, you'll rehearse being at height calmly, confidently, with your feet firmly planted and your breathing steady. Your mind will begin to encode this new experience as normal.

Real-world integration

As you progress, we'll prepare you for real situations you want to navigate. Whether that's a coastal walk, a holiday with viewpoints, or simply feeling comfortable on an upper floor, you'll have a plan that feels achievable.

You remain in complete control throughout. Hypnotherapy isn't about being "put under" or losing awareness. It's a collaborative process, and you're an active participant in your own progress.

FAQs

What if it doesn't work for me? Hypnotherapy is highly effective for phobias, with research showing significant reductions in fear and avoidance for the majority of people who complete treatment. Every person responds differently, and we'll work together to find the approach that feels right for you. You're never locked into continuing if it doesn't feel helpful.

I've had this fear for years - is it too late? The length of time you've had the fear doesn't determine whether it can change. What matters is your willingness to try a new approach. Some fears develop after a specific event. Others have been there as long as you can remember. Regardless of when it started, hypnotherapy can help you create a new response.

Will I have to relive a traumatic experience? No. This programme is designed to help you move forward, not to force you to replay distressing memories. If your fear is rooted in a difficult past experience, we work gently and at your pace, always prioritising your comfort and sense of safety.

I'm worried I'll feel out of control Hypnotherapy is not about losing control, it's about re-gaining it. You're fully aware during every session. You can speak, move and stop at any time. Hypnosis is simply a deeply relaxed, focused state, like being absorbed in a book. You remain in complete control throughout.
